System human failure
Staring into space through bridge window Claire could fooled herself into believing they were still, but the angry red lights on her terminal, the silent debris hurtling past, and her own hyperventilating would not be ignored. 'Captain, please, I know what to do sir.' She pleaded again.

Voices out of reach
Protesters threw food over gates and onto the town hall. A piece of tomato splattered Hank's 'Government Scientist' ID as he walked inside. 'What if they're right?' he thought for a moment even knowing that without metallurgical coal from the mine they had elected to save they would have to import steel for turbines from China anyway. The net emissions would be less but all the protestors could hear was 'coal', and all the mayor had heard to be persuaded was 'good economics'. He went to his office, wiped his badge, and silently wished everyone could understand.

How dragons came to the Valley
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Of course there were creatures that came down from the mountains or out from the depths of the rainforest, but certainly nothing you would call a Dragon. Dragons are rare creatures, capable of sustained flight, extraordinary breath, and in possession of biological characteristics that make them the master of their environment. No, there were not always dragons in the Valley.
