Knowing without means isn't enough

Protesters threw food over gates and onto the town hall. A piece of tomato splattered Hank's 'Government Scientist' ID as he walked inside. 'What if they're right?' he thought for a moment even knowing that without metallurgical coal from the mine they had elected to save they would have to import steel for turbines from China anyway. The net emissions would be less but all the protestors could hear was 'coal', and all the mayor had heard to be persuaded was 'good economics'. He went to his office, wiped his badge, and silently wished everyone could understand.
