Happiness is Sweet Things
No matter what or how delicious the dinner was, everyone wants dessert. Baba au rhum are small yeast dough sponge cakes. These cakes are filled with raisins or currants and baked in a ring mold and soaked in rum. The hole in the center of the cake is filled with either pastry cream and fresh fruit, or whipped cream.

Thimphu on the Thimphu River
Bhutan is a Buddhist kingdom on the eastern edge of the Himalayas. It is a country known for its monasteries, fortresses or dzongs, and dramatic landscapes. The capital and largest city, Thimphu lies in a valley in the country’s western interior. The city is the seat of government and is known for its Buddhist sites.

The International First Lady of Rock
The talented singer came into this world on June 8, 1951, as Gaynor Sullivan. She became known for her distinctive husky voice. She is one of my all-time favorite singers. Bonnie Tyler is a Welsh singer, songwriter, businesswoman, and active philanthropist. She started out her career as a local singer in Swansea and got famous when her album The World Starts Tonight was released in 1977 with the singles “Lost in France” and ‘More Than a Lover”. She made it on the charts with her popular single “It’s a Heartache” in 1978 reaching number one in several European countries. Bonnie Tyler won the 10th World Popular Song Festival with her 1979 single “Sitting on the Edge of the Ocean”.

Dhaka on the Buriganga River
To the east of India on the Bay of Bengal, you’ll find the South Asian country of Bangladesh. In this country, there are many waterways and the Padma (Ganges), Meghna and Jamuna Rivers create fertile plains and one of the most common forms of travel is by boat.

Trenton on the Delaware River
Trenton is the capital of the US state of New Jersey. The New Jersey Statehouse was built in 1792. It is the most historic site in the area and is one of the only working capitols in the U.S. Visitors can get guided tours. You can see the assembly chamber, the Senate conference room, the State House annex, and the plaza. The painted ceiling room shows an artistic interpretation of the history of New Jersey. There are stained-glass windows depicting former governors. On Monday or Thursday afternoons the legislative and committee meetings are open to the public and you can view government discussions and hear bills and public addresses being announced.

Lisbon on the Tagus River
The capital of Portugal, Lisbon is an amazing hilly city that is well-known for its cafe culture and Fado music. There are many delightful things to do and see like the pastel-colored buildings in the old city. Lisbon is located in the west of the Iberian Peninsula and sits by the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus River. You can find wonderful Atlantic beaches just outside of Lisbon stretching from Cascais to Estoril.
