Bethan Would it be a bad thing to admit that I'm excited? I feel...I don't know, like something is happening finally, after years of inertia and stagnation. I feel...invigorated, like I have a purpose again. I don't know if it's the contact with Katie or what, but I feel...closer to Laney somehow, like she's within reach.

Little Red Leaf- The Chapters
Here is a list in one place of links to all the episodes in my continuing series which started with Little Red Leaf. It tells the story of a mother who has lost her daughter and the mystery surrounding what happened to her, told through varying perspectives, from the people who know the truth to others to whom its discovery will alter their lives irrevocably.

Bethan's Plan
Bethan I tried to call Dave again but I knew that he wouldn't answer. I'm going to have to set an ambush. At least, I know where he lives, so I can access him, follow him. I let my anger against him and my concern for Katie fuel this craziness. It just feels like another chapter in an already torturous, twisted story.

Truth - Out. Content Warning.
Luke searches Matt's face. "He pushed her," Luke states, blankly. Matt can't hold Luke's steady gaze. He just nods, his mind presenting him with a flashed moment of Mark's angry face as he lunged at Laney, and as if in slow motion, Laney's surprise as she tipped off balance, not prepared for the force of Mark's contact, and her subsequent fall.

Mark. Content Warning.
It was made up of peaks and troughs, his life. But mainly troughs. Like the ones used to feed pigs: messy; giving off a stink. He wondered what it would have been like if he'd been born to someone else, but then, he supposed then he wouldn't be him. Mark wasn't a deep thinker but he recognised thinking about what could have been didn't do any good.

Beaten by a Girl
The boys moved like a pack but Laney was sure of step, and danced away from them, laughing gaily and giggling every time she thwarted them. She was like an ethereal spirit, weaving, seemingly made of something other, the boys' fingers never grazing her, even though their grubby nails came close, so close...
