As they clink glasses they regard each other, at first with a knowing look in their eyes then just the hint of a smile but nothing more. Hetty and Charlotte go so far back that the new team members consider them as ‘precious antiques’, which they did not take as a compliment but rather an insight into their colleagues' thought process. Kinder comments they had heard and also much worse.

Out of all the Greek islands, I am back here, at the honeymoon spot. What was I thinking, self punishment or a dark kind of reminiscence? Either way, years have passed, a bit more than twenty to be precise and yet there is still that strange quality I possess, taking the positive out of a kaleidoscope of darkness and from negative whispers in the night.

Looking back on a hazy day
Looking back on a hazy day It was Monday, wait, no, it was Tuesday. But there was a Monday feel about it, getting back to the routine, filling the fridge again and so on. As I walked into the coffee shop all the positive vibe and enthusiasm I had felt in my body seemed to leave me all at once, as I saw his face. In that instant I knew it was over.

She wants to dance with somebody....
She wants to dance with somebody…. Now there’s a film that passed me by, ‘I wanna dance with somebody’, a story of Whitney Houston. After discovering this fairly recently and neither loving or hating it I realised that parts were gripping, poignant and simply brilliant. This epic, iconic lady who sang with grace making it seem effortless, needs a platform in order to feed the hunger for some kind of truth that demands to be told.

It was with some ease that she glided along the ice, almost like a sturdy creature with an instinct to stay upright, but looking around her, she could see two people down on the ice and they were laughing. She searches out Davie only to find he is holding onto the edge and engaged in deep conversation with someone - a man, fifties maybe, and in the line to skate.

Not wanting to lose control, she tries to force a sense of calmness upon herself, breathing deeply and slowly as he packs the last of his belongings. Five years, she thinks, is a significant amount of time to be in someone's life. She has pleaded for days now, to try and get him to listen but to no avail.
