Letter to My Soul Sister
Dear Soul Sister, I could write a novel’s worth of words to express my gratitude for you and it still wouldn’t be enough. But sitting here, as the super moon filters through my thin curtains, I find the words spilling out, and this letter slaps the table. We laugh at how the butterfly wings fall so unexpectedly, knocking paths together in the most unlikely of ways. As the years have melted by and through us like sticks of butter in a pan, my gratitude for that first meeting has only grown. Two intoxicated 2nd years in a club at university, who’s circles never touched, who’s studies never crossed, stumbling into one another like shot glasses.

Escape to Mexico Part 6: Yoga, Bike Rides and Navigating Without Signal
Having been exhausted the night before I nodded off early and woke before dawn, suffering from terrible allergies. I couldn’t stop sneezing and sniffling. Luckily I had brought some allergy medication with me and having spent time tossing and turning decided to head out and give L some respite from the involuntary disturbance whilst getting some fresh air.

Escape to Mexico Part 5: Paradise and Diamante K Resort
That following morning of the third day was spent lazing about cleaning up the mess from the night before and struggling to pack away the remnants of the last two days once again. Despite the only new addition to my luggage being the shot glass from Papasito, I still had to treat packing like a game of Tetris and sit on the suitcase to get it closed. At last, we waved goodbye to our little Cancun hideaway and headed to the next spot on L’s list, "La Green House". This was meant to be a well rated and renowned spot for a traditional breakfast.

Escape to Mexico Part 4: Coco Bongo
We woke later and more refreshed than the previous morning, adjusting to the time difference. L had another food venue we should visit for breakfast, so we grabbed an uber and headed to Café del Cofre in downtown Cancun. We passed an abundance of beautiful street art before finding our way to the little café set up in a van on the side of the road.

Escape to Mexico Part 3: Papacito, Playa Norte and the Mariachi Band
Carrying on from part 2, we had just been lured in by the jolly tequila salesman. I do not remember his name, he asked us to refer to him as Papacito. This seemed a strange mix of fatherly intention and inappropriate undertones, as of course I know that papito means “daddy” in Spanish. He plied us with shot after shot of tequila samples. Mango flavoured, coconut, traditional, then mezcal, a different spirit, also agave based. He convinced us to get a small bottle each throwing in a shot glass for free since we both bought some ridiculously overpriced cigarettes because they were in a pink box and we were feeling impulsive. The cigarettes weren’t pink themselves to L’s great disappointment.
