Charlotte Gainsbourg - IRM
I first came across the name Gainsbourg when Charlotte’s dad Serge released “Je T’Aime . Moi Non-Plus” with Jane Birkin which was banned by the BBC for being too naughty. The music was quite pleasant but Serge was never bothered about stepping on moral toes, recording and releasing the song “Lemon Incest” with his daughter. There are several copies on Youtube if you want to investigate and it entered the French charts and number seven peaking at number two, It appeared on Serge’s album “Love on the Beat” in 1985 and Charlotte’s debut album “Charlotte Forever” in 1986.

Dipping My Toes Into Social Media To Promote My Vocal Stories
Introduction Actually, this is a story of abject failure. Maybe I am not intelligent enough (I only left school with a couple of “A” Levels, and never went to University). Or maybe it is just my extreme laziness and laconic writing style. I also generally don’t plan the stories I write, and again is that my laziness or lack of apparent intelligence?

SupercalifragilisticBorussiaMönchengladbach
SupercalifragilisticBorussiaMönchengladbach is used in the song “The Bastard Son of Dean Friedman” by Half Man Half Biscuit. Nigel Blackwell came up with it and this is my piece on him with links to his lyrical genius. read more about it below.

My Bird Will Fly
I only have one Muse and will only ever have one. I have looked for equivalent words in other cultures and can find none. My Muse inspires me to words of mythology and the culture of legendary characters and events. She is also a lover of nature and that is the stimulus for these words.

You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet
“You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” by Bachman Turner Overdrive cam on the player and I thought that would be a great starting point for a villanelle for The Vocal Social Society, which is now moving towards a thousand members and every day features something worth taking your time to read and keep you occupied for some time.

Deep In The Heart Of Love
I first met my Inspiration through a mutual admiration of the music of the Moody Blues. I asked if anyone had written her a poem before and she said no. I have written poems for six people now since starting on Vocal. One of those has disappeared, one has left Facebook, and three I am still close friends with and am very close to my Inspiration. This is a poem for her.

Godbluff - Van Der Graaf Generator
A Little About Van Der Graaf Generator I am not sure when I first heard Van Der Graaf Generator. I had seen one in school physics lessons to demonstrate creating lightning in the school laboratory. I think I remember seeing the surreal cover of “Pawn Hearts” and noticing the title of the piece that took up side two “A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers”.

Jordan Reyne - Maiden, Mother, Crone
Introduction To An Amazing Artist - Jordan Reyne Jordan Reyne is still the most jaw-dropping artist I have discovered, In 2014 I went to see The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing (one of the best live bands you can ever see) and Think Tank in Newcastle, and when I got in there was a girl with horns like some pagan sylph on stages sing to a echoplex loop of her own voice on stage. I didn't know who it was, but I think the song was “The Shadow Line”. You can read about the gig here on the Spoongig blog
