The Thin Ones
It is dark and raining. The wind blows a rogue hanging wire against the metal lamp post making it sing like a muffled bell. I was out late, I don't know why, but I always find that sound so eerie, like something bad is going to happen.

Classical Ruination
Introduction This was getting a few reads on Seven Days In and I thought I could turn it into a sort of playlist of modernish songs and the classical pieces that they were lifted from. I will start with the Apollo 100 take on Bach's "Jesu Joy Of Man's Desire" simply retitled "Joy" but it is a favourite piece of mine, but this does give you the opportunity to compare.

A Thousand Words Of Love. Top Story - July 2023.
Introduction Although the Vocal Challenge is called "Short And Sweet" the only shortness that is referred to is the fact that words should not be more than four letters long and I said your poem could be an epic. Now I cannot rewrite the Iliad or the Odyssey but I can write a thousand words about someone who is special to me.

A Plagiaristic Poem From The Shelves Of The Cozy Dove
Introduction I was having a drink in the Cozy Dove which has some well-stocked bookshelves, there are a lot of books about cricket, but I thought there might be enough to create a sonnet. I momentarily thought about an acrostic using the pub's name but then that might be too difficult, especially with the "Z", though there are books that start with the letter "Z".

Being Perfect
Introduction A Vocal Creator Friend Grz Colm made a comment on the story below which inspired this piece. These are just some thoughts about how we can all be perfect in lots of small ways. Things may not be technically perfect but they will be perfect for us.

The Wild Lawn
Introduction I was always under the impression that lawns should be kept tidy and only have grass, closely cut on them. I have heard of moss lawns, and playing fields, tennis courts, croquet lawns, and bowling greens obviously need to be kept well trimmed and tidy but in recent years my attitude towards grassed lawns and their surrounding has been changing, maybe even evolving.

Get Up And Go
Introduction Sometimes you want to do things but it maybe feels a bit too much. It feels like your "get up and go" has got up and gone. Today I was feeling like that but this is what happened. Another voice hit me with the Nike mission statement, "Just Do It" so I took to the road and just did it.

The Business Model. Content Warning.
Introduction I was listening to "Masters Of War" by Bob Dylan and it just made me think of the state our world is in at the moment. This story is anything but hopeful and is not the sort of thing that I enjoy writing. It observes how evil so often triumphs because people allow it to exist in the name of fairness or due to complete apathy.
