The Grandparent Bandit Diaries
The Grandparent Bandit Diaries By Michael Bonham Larson Fleeing to California, it was the late 1930s and my grandparents were running from the Indiana state police. Settling in Monterey County they began new lives with their two daughters, my mom and my aunt. It seems my beloved grandparents were wanted by the authorities in several states for illegal gambling and attempted robbery. My aunt described them to me as a kind of Robin Hood version of Bonnie and Clyde. They never actually hurt anyone, as far as she knew, and once they arrived in California they made restitution for their crimes.

The Mask Police
The Mask Police 02/07/2021 Michael Bonham Larson I remember my mom telling me when I got my Kindergarten report card that I had flunked skipping and galloping and that for some reason I could not tell the difference between the two. I remember practicing and playing hopscotch with my sister but could never get this down. I was a terribly un- coordinated kid and I guess it has followed me to this day. I remember in my 30’s going to a country western bar and trying to learn how to Line Dance and Two Step. I was asked to give it up. My dad used to accuse me of tripping over hairs. Need I say more?

Diversity Fish 02/03/2021 Michael Bonham Larson Hi folks, it’s Christmas time again, and I am trying to figure out what to get for my new housemate, Mike, for Christmas. He has a tank full of tiny little exotic fish and one sucker fish to help with algae control. After a few months of observing this fish in action I now call it “The Suckfish” for it really sucks! I mean all day long it just hangs around, stuck to the glass. I still see algae, so I don’t think it’s doing its job. Thinking about what to give him for Christmas this year was easy, for I thought, “Maybe the suckfish is lonely and that’s why it just hangs there all day long looking forlorn and not getting the job done. I’ll get him another suckfish so his old suckfish will have company.” (I love saying suckfish!)

2nd Hand Stoner
2nd Hand Stoner 11/11/17 Michael Bonham Larson Yes, folks I have become a 2nd hand stoner. It all began about 6 months ago when I moved in with my co-worker and friend Mike. He owns a manufactured home in a very small mobile home park here in Scotts Valley. There are about thirty homes that line up right next to each other and the only separation between them is each of their driveways. The only view at times when you open your bedroom window is the neighbor’s car. It is a very nice middle class community filled with humble hardworking people.
