Last Letter Home. Top Story - November 2023.
My dearest Catherine, My love, I hope you are well and safe this Christmas, for it’s a glorious Christmas night here as I sit penning this letter to you. While I dream of being with you and the children at the lake, sitting beside the fire, drinking wine with you as William and Mary play at our feet, there are things happening here in Trenton, and it’s a dream that I do not dare dream, for it makes what comes next that much harder.

Shattered Swords
Ruby blood dripped down his ornate longsword’s blade onto the arena sands–blood they said would run black as mud. Cathar stood over his prey and pulled off his helm. The nameless ogre lay low upon its back, knee shattered by a well-placed strike from the anointed knight.

Over the Top
The mud below Edward’s feet jumps like fleas as the first guns unleash their dreadful howl. Not even the rats suffered them. The feral things run across the bloated boards as if escaping some cursed and sinking East Indiaman at the barrage. He envies them. They’ll spend the night in some deep, warm hole, well beyond where the shells can get them. Edward will spend it cold and wet in the broken earth of France.
