Heavenly Target Practice
I’m quite sure many of you have been to the old-fashioned bizarre/carnivals with all their little games. You know the ones: toss a bean bag, knock down three sand-filled dolls, and win a prize; throw three darts, break three balloons, and win a stuffed animal; toss three rings around empty glass bottles, and win a prize. So many games, so few winners.

Why I Am Not Called Grace. Top Story - July 2022.
I think my mom had genuine insight. When she was pregnant with me, she and my dad tossed quite a few names around, trying to decide which ones they like the best. Back in 1947, ultrasound had not yet been invented to determine the sex of the child. Names were guess-work. You decided on two: one boy and one girl. Then you would use the one for that baby once it was born.

Is Anyone Out There?
It was June of 1992. I was a single mom of two very impressionable teenage boys. No, they weren’t perfect, and they weren’t mean-spirited, or wild. They were normal teens – well, ok, they were older teens. They were 16 and 18. We talked about everything and anything and often, we’d disagree. More often, being the teens they were, they’d agree with each other leaving their mom out of the loop, or, just maybe, I was in the loop, and they weren’t.

Play Ball
Ah! Baseball! The season for some of our favorite stars to entertain us once again after a long winter’s respite. As a child, I watched all the Brookly Dodgers’ games with my dad and never once did we ever think of Spring Training. For whatever reason, no one ever mentioned it before, during, or after the games. Baseball season began and ended! Period! One always assumed the players enjoyed a long vacation between summer seasons. Things have definitely changed through the years.
