I am Monster
It has been two years since that day. I remember the day like it was yesterday. Some days it is the only thing I can think about and focus on. I had started out on the trail early in the morning. The trails through the hills and rivers of Michigan were always enjoyable and beautiful. I tend to avoid those these days though. They just scream when I go there. That day started out like any other but then everything went quiet. The trail was narrow like a deer trail. I had thought the forest wasn’t used to me, but I was wrong. As I came to an intersection with a larger trail I turned to see a bear staring at me. Something was wrong with this bear though. Its eyes were red and it was snarling. It had gone mad. I don’t know what came over me as I took off down the trail. I felt faster, but everything was moving in slow motion. I was on the bigger trail. That is all I knew. I noticed up ahead of me two girls round a corner in the trail and I started flailing trying to get their attention. The redhead noticed me first and pulled the other back around the corner. I knew I couldn’t lead the bear down that trail. That was when I noticed the trees at turn were open. I should have known that there wasn’t a second trail. I took off straight hoping to lead the bear away. I turned my head to see if the girls were running as fast as they could. I thought I was going to die. That would have been the better option. I saw the redhead picking up the other girl. The girl’s ankle was twisted like it was broken. This wasn’t good. That was the last time my foot touched the trail. As I fell forward I turned back looking for the bear to follow. It had stopped and was looking at the girls. “Leave me!” It was the girl who had gotten hurt.

Kari Thomas
Kari Thomas was happy with the land that she had just purchased. She bought it off an older couple. They had the land for the past 50 years. She had purchased 500 acres in the heart of the USA. The couple had maintained 5 acres for their house and buildings and had another 493 sectioned of to used as farmland. Kari had found it odd that the couple had told her to stay away from a building in the middle of the land. It was an old run-down two-story house. They told her that every night a faint glow would come from one of the upper windows as if there was a candle in the windowsill. Kari thought that it was strange for them to leave the property. She was just going just destroy the building so that she could use the land. She had plans and she wasn’t going to let no ghost story stop her from fulfilling them.

Return of the Mothman
In the year 2009. Jason Rivers had arrived in Mason County to shoot the next episode of his web series. He was a content creator that had made a name for himself by doing solo investigations of mythical creatures. He had made dives looking for the loch ness monster and countless hikes looking for the elusive Sasquatch. He would usually stay on location 3 nights to get enough footage and action to cover a 20-minute episode. His audience insisted that he go after more mythical creatures. That is what he was doing here. He had amassed the audience he had because he listened to his audience. He wanted to give them what they wanted. Mason County was home to the Mothman. A creature that first appeared in the sixty’s and was credited for taking down a bridge that killed 46 people. This was a creature that brought bad luck to the people that saw it.

The Clinically Sane
The year is 2015. Rebecca Steele is in Weston, West Virginia. She was here to investigate the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Rebecca had investigated haunted places before. She was known around the ghost community as the “Woman made of Steel” for never getting flustered and doing solo investigations. She was fearless and viewed this place as another investigation and a major hook for her audience. Rebecca kept her gear limited. She knew what worked and that is what she stuck to. Given the troubled past of Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Rebecca was certain that she would get a lot of action tonight.

The year is 2005. Frank Kalaway is an explorer. He has explored forests, highlands, and deserts. He has formed blogs and videos on how to survive in these areas and the animals that lived there. The only difference between those times and now is that he knows what he is looking for now. He was told that the creature has recently been more active than in the past. He went into the woods planning to stay 5 nights. He was in a hot zone where a lot of activity had occurred.

The mayor's office that same day. The walls are lined with many achievements from both Weldon City and the Mayor himself. A paper showing the Mayor shaking hands with an older gentleman as they are smiling and holding a check between the two of them is framed up on the wall. The headline reads “Dr. Jericho pledges to help Mayor Charlie clean up local parks.”
