Eric
Eric sat in his car reading the last text from Veronica. Part of him wanted to reply with profanity. He knew the truth. The night of their date when he saw Veronica at the gas station Eric decided to follow Veronica all the way home. He had never done anything like this before but something about the way she looked at him made him suspect that something was not right. As he followed her his mind waged a war against himself. He knew what he was doing was wrong and could be called stalking, but on the other hand he could excuse himself and explain he was simply making sure his date made it home safely. Once Veronica arrived at her condominium complex he realized she lived in a gated complex. Eric thought of it as a blessing since he didn’t want to go any further. But then he realized he could still see Veronica as she parked her car in the very first condo next to the gate. She got out of her car slowly. She locked her car and went inside checking her phone as she walked. Certainly not in a hurried, ailing manner. Eric also waited to see if Veronica would come back out to clean her car since she said her car was dirty from one assumed throw up. Instead, she went inside and didn’t come back out. Each minute that passed Eric got more and more upset. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially for two mature adults. Eric also wondered what in him made his company so undesirable. Then he remembered how wonderful the past month had been. Veronica had been so understanding of everything he shared, she had been so helpful in her advice to him. This was one of the reasons why Eric was so looking forward to a date with this woman. She seemed so interested in him and his problems and wanted to genuinely be a partner, or so he thought.
