Girlhood
Part of healing is also forgiving yourself for allowing certain things to happen. While on my healing journey, I discovered that I felt angry that I had a part of me, taken from me. The innocent part of me. At 21 years old, I decided to put my trust and love into someone who was 5 years older than me. Thinking because this person was older, that he would take care of me and cherish me, but I had to come to find out that wasn't the case at all.

Divorce
As you know by now, I have been pretty open with my life falling apart. Piece by piece I am starting to put it back together, and of course it is not going to look the same. I am aware that life is changing but I didn't realize how different I would feel. No one can really prepare you for the emotions that come with getting a divorce. It's definitely not a step by step process. Actually, it feels like a pinball machine. You're constantly bumping to different sides and then you launch forward only to be back at where you started. Don't get me wrong, there is progress as time goes on but you still find yourself wondering "Am I ever going to feel safe again?" That's when I came to terms with the fact that my healing journey is still evolving.

Lose You To Love Me
If you listen to her song, it's incredibly vulnerable. Naked, even. She exposes the hurt and pain that someone else caused, making her hate someone she onced loved. Ultimately, realizing that this had to happen in order for her to love herself and move forward. Closing the door to what once was, for something new to flourish. It's messy getting there though. So, if you still are here after reading my parts 1 and 2 then, thank you for letting me expose myself (figuratively and literally)...but we aren't done yet.

Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart
Marriage counseling. Couples therapy. Why is that so hard for some people to do? You'd think that if a marriage is having problems that both parties would do everything needed to fix it, including either one of the two previously mentioned. I had brought it up for a while now and the answer was always no. "Why are we going to have a stranger help us fix our marriage?" or "I don't feel comfortable telling a stranger our problems." I exhausted all other options but still saw no permanent result.

Lemonade
It's been a couple months now but I feel like if I don't start writing about it I will start to lose important feelings about it. Not that I expect dozens of people to read this, let alone one, but I do need to write this down for me. For the days that I feel like I somehow are at fault for this or that I didn't try hard enough when I know I did all that I could. But, it's also for the person who may need my advice one day or maybe just the encouragement of knowing the fact that they aren't alone.

Mom, Mother, Mommy, Mama. Not sure which one I will permanently go by, I will leave that up to Makaio to decide once he starts talking. However, I have come to find a whole new appreciation for mothers ever since I joined the mom club.

Dear 15 Year Old
Dear 15 year old Lexi, Let me start by saying, I’m very proud of you. Teenage years are one of the most confusing and stressful times of adolescence. I know high school seems like the most important part of your entire life but trust me when I say it’s a very small part of your entire life. I’m not just saying that because I’m an adult now either.

Postpartum. I remember I would hear that word and wonder what it meant exactly. No one really speaks about it, and as a young woman I was not sure what that meant for not just my body, but my womanhood.

Ready or Not, Here He Comes!
I was staring at the ultrasound screen and completely intrigued that I had a little human growing happily inside me. I squeezed Bryan’s hand as he held mine and looked at him with love in my heart, because I knew he was just as excited as I was. We waited anxiously as the gynecologist took measurements of the baby, but WAIT, I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s go back to about a week before Christmas.

We Are Millennials
Some of us get up at the crack of dawn, maybe comb our hair (baseball caps and buns usually do the trick), and head out to work/school. While some others are stumbling through the door with the scent of alcohol and tacos seeped into our clothes from the night before. Then there are some of us who are up and ready by 6am, have breakfast done, and the kids ready to go to school in a matter of seconds. No matter where your day begins, you are a millennial! Be proud too, because we make sh*t happen!
