The Birth of Seren Dipity. Content Warning.
As any comic book aficionado knows, every superhero origin story requires three key elements. The first is trauma. Sarah Divine had thought long and hard about how she wanted to end her life. It was a choice between a razor and pills. She wasn’t sure she would be successful with the former, but with her access to medicine at the hospital, she was confident that a cocktail of chemicals would do the job. If it was good enough for rockstars and actors, it would suffice for a nurse nobody noticed. Still, she used the blade, too. Everyone loves a trier, right?

Man, I love you. Runner-Up in Love Unraveled Challenge.
Nearly eight years ago, my Dad took his own life. A few months later, one of my closest friends, aged only 34, died suddenly. After an innocuous bike ride, he went for a lie-down and never woke up. An unknown heart condition stole a friend who was the light of every room he walked into.

An Ewok's Smile
The stall-owner looked at me the same way a cat does a vacuum cleaner – equal parts fascination and hatred. My offer for the mint-on-card Chewbacca figure was clearly derisory. The stormtrooper next to me made an audible tut, his helmet rattling as he did. At Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016, people took their cosplay and collecting seriously.

Wobble Bobble
My Grandma driving was all knuckle and bobble hat. Her car smelt like a washed ashtray. It was also possessed by the soul of a departed madman who had a penchant for switching on her turn signal. She assumed other motorists very polite as they passed waving their hands out of rolled-down windows. A ride with Grandma had the potential to fright or delight in equal measure.
