Mishka The Bear. Top Story - July 2025.
I saw the young brown bear for the first time on Friday afternoon of my big move. It lurked in the shadow of the pine trees that fringed my property — not quite a cub, but not fully grown yet. My limited knowledge of bears suggested it was about two years old.

Death of My RE & EV Stock
I have a Roth IRA account I manage myself. It's not large and I try to be careful with my money: Make it as diverse as possible, invest in some Blue Chips and some tech Unicorns, and companies that work for improving our future, such as renewable energy and electric or hybrid vehicles. With those high-risk companies, I try to invest only what I could lose without regret ($200-500) or offset with other more reliable investments.

Were You Ever Really There?
You were not my friend. I was 12, you were 16. At that age, a four-year gap seems enormous. But I always looked up to you and longed to be your friend. It's just that you had so many other friends closer to your age that I felt shy around you all. Not sure half of them even liked me.

Zero Day
Being on a summer break gives me an opportunity to catch up with some TV shows and movies. So, I just binge-watched Zero Day, a 6-episode political thriller produced by Netflix that is based on 2011 David Baldacci's book. Robert De Niro plays George Mullen, a former US president who was tasked with heading a special investigation commission after America experienced a one-minute cyber attack on computer systems that killed over 3,000 people and wreaked havoc on the country's infrastructure.

Fences: Media Effects Illustrated
In my Media Literacy class in Spring 2025, I tried to honor the Black History Month by analyzing Black cultural products and their impact on the society and individuals. I'm sorry it took me forever to write this up, but I was teaching five courses and was barely keeping my head above the water.

Strange Sally Diamond. Top Story - June 2025.
I picked up this book at the B&N’s Blind Date With a Book display. I loved the entire concept of selecting a mystery book based on a one-sentence teaser. Especially because they were lovingly wrapped by hand and the handwriting must have taken good effort (if they used the cursive it would have been even more attractive). As a public relations professional I think this marketing technique is brilliant, tapping into the book lovers’ serendipitous desire to be surprised with something new.
