Boy Eyes
"Mooom, where's the..." used to be a constant refrain in our house, and I know I am not alone. At first, I just told them where it was. It seemed like a quick and logical solution to the minor problem at hand: someone I loved didn't know where something was, and I did. Of course I told them. What kind of manipulating liar would do otherwise?

Old Buildings, Old Books
I shouldn't be here. Everything in me was screaming to go back, so why do I keep going? There's a reason the Manor is desserted. Good reason why no one comes here. And yet, see here, another step, sending up another little cloud of dust around my feet.

A Dish Best Served Salted. Runner-Up in Legends Rewritten Challenge.
The man in the water is dying, or he will be soon. Hopefully. Ryelle tilts her head and looks through the glass at him. Maybe she's remembering the first time she'd seen those loose black curls, framing those cheekbones and waving in that ghostly way hair does when it's underwater. Her own makes a red cloud, like blood. Now, it hangs limp and snarled around her shoulders.

Green
There used to be twenty or thirty other kids here with us. I don't know where they went. They just... Go. There's a place near here. Not long after we first got here, I went there quite a lot. You walk across the meadow and there's a deserted road. Beyond that, there's a slope, and at the bottom, a green, just like the one back home. Wide and velvety smooth as if Mr Peters had been along and mowed it.

Left Behind
It's absolutely not essential, but I think you'll enjoy this more if you read the others that go with it😁 There are only three and they are all are fairly short. There isn't really an optimal order to read them in, and you should be able to enjoy them as stand-alone stories if you prefer.

The Kids Are Alright
Winter had her icy jaws locked on to the countryside, and most sensible animals were sheltering from her. The silvery moonlight brought its own chill. Even Winter, though, in the blackest heart of her inexorable dance, can't compete with the razor teeth and tough jaws of an otter.
