The Duty. Content Warning.
This is for an assignment I had in my short story class. I rewrote a scene examining the conflict in the short story "How Far She Went". I chose to rewrite this scene from the dog's perspective, as I believe he deserved some justice. I hope you enjoy.

I Discovered A Secret In FFXIV No One Seems To Be Talking About
I have been a long-time RPG and JRPG fan. While I still have many from the series to conquer, Final Fantasy has been a steadfast and recurring part of my growing years. When I first heard of FFXI, I had to buy it immediately. Yet, in my naivete, I did not realize differences in computer graphical abilities. Nor did I realize that you needed special hardware to play the game on PlayStation. I held onto that game for so many years and never had the chance to play it. I was dismayed when I heard that they were making another MMORPG in the series (Final Fantasy XIV), as my computer situation hadn’t improved.

Empty-Headed (Part 2). Content Warning.
Chapter 2 Evelyn stood at the far edge of the little community they'd formed, peering through a crack in the fence. Her eyes spoke volumes of what was going on in her mind. A deep, cloudy blue that lay heavy from the purple circles underneath them. It was clear that sleep was not a friend to her. It had been hours since her husband had left on a supply run. She begged him not to go, knowing full well he wouldn't find much of anything. Yet, he insisted. It was true that they were running incredibly low on everything. Their food supply was almost shot and medical supplies were running out too. If it wasn't for the few scrapes and bruises that happened throughout a general day, it also seemed like someone might have been taking things from the med closet.

The air was warm within the glade, illuminated only by the soft glow of the moon. The only sounds that permeated the air were those of the crickets chirruping and the air smelled of heavenly pine. Alcides sat upon a fallen log, his handsome chin resting upon a large hand and his amber eyes half-lidded, as he gazed off into the distance appearing to be lost in thought. Despite his outward appearance, his ears strained against the muted sounds of the night, fully alert and waiting.

The cave was in sight, a gaping hole at the top of the mountain. It had taken Adaline ages to climb. No longer under the trees' safety, the sweltering sun cascaded over her and caused beads of sweat to form upon her brow. A soft smile graced her lips, and Adaline used one limber hand to wipe away the droplets that threatened to fall into her ice-colored eyes.

Resolution. Noun. "a firm decision to do or not to do something." I've never been fond of the term resolution. I've set resolutions in previous years, but I can't remember keeping a single one. When I noticed how rarely resolutions panned out, I abandoned them altogether. I maintained a laid-back attitude. I played it cool. Cue Doris Day. Truthfully, I believe I was simply afraid of failing once more.
