The Ungodliness of Cancel Culture
“Cancel culture” is a social phenomenon in which individuals, groups, or organisations are publicly condemned, and socially or professionally boycotted. The “cancelling” of people is often seen on social media, and happens because of something said or done that is considered offensive, harmful, or unacceptable. Key aspects of cancel culture include: public call-outs demanding accountability, along with potential loss of job opportunities or platform access. In summary, cancel culture is about ostracising people and minimising their quality of life because of their apparent sins.

Why I left the Seventh-day Adventist Church
I’ve written this article to address why I made the personal decision to dissociate myself from Seventh-day Adventism. My intention is to shed light on one of the main false doctrines of this group and to encourage truth-seekers to pursue sound biblical teaching.

Two Years, Two Babies and a Lifetime of Lessons
Our second wedding anniversary is right around the corner and we’ve just welcomed baby number two. In only two short years we’ve gone from newly-weds to parents of a one-year-old and a newborn and that dramatic shift has been a crash-course in both marriage and motherhood. The learning curve is steep but as long as I keep a teachable heart, the lessons keep coming.

How I prepared for Marriage and Motherhood in my Twenties
Years ago, no one would have described me as family-oriented. Despite frequently talking about my family, I didn't truly value or appreciate having one. The dysfunction I recognised often clouded my view and my frustrations were evident in how openly I vented to others. While I made attempts to be grateful, I frequently found reasons to complain about members of my family. Immaturity and a lack of discernment hindered my ability to show compassion, failing to recognise that, like me, my family were flawed individuals also in need of healing and love.

God is my cure!
Beginning of 2023, my faith in God was tested majorly. In January, I started to experience intense headaches that seemed to appear out of nowhere. These headaches swiftly became unbearable; they caused my vision to deteriorate and I also suffered nausea and vomiting.

"You can't turn a h*e into a housewife"
Contrary to popular belief, not all women live their lives yearning for marriage. The world would love to believe this but it's simply not true and certainly wasn't for me. Marriage was a foreign concept to me for many reasons, including the fact that I grew up not seeing [good] marriages in my personal life. There were definitely couples around me who had been 'married' according to the government but according to how they lived, I didn't see a union of two people. For me, marriage was a business that I barely took notice of just like any other business that didn't have what I was looking for.

“I’m not religious, I’m spiritual”
How many of you have heard the saying "I'm not religious, I'm spiritual"? I don't know every single reader personally but I'll make the assumption that a large portion of you have heard people say this. Like myself, you may have been someone who has said this. This common response to questions about spiritual beliefs implies that people don't understand how religion and spirituality work together.

Cultivating Intimacy
I think about intimacy quite frequently. It’s a desire of mine that I’ve had all my life. Despising shallowness, I yearned for closeness in most of my relationships. I know now that I always had this desire because God created mankind to be relational beings. It is written that ‘it is not good for man to be alone’ (Genesis 2:18) after God created Adam, so He then created Eve. The beauty in the creation of Adam’s helpmate is that God didn’t just form her from the ground like He did him but He created her from Adam’s rib. Eve is then affirmed by her husband with the words ‘this is now bones of bones and flesh of my flesh’ (Genesis 2:23) and in the next verse, it is written ‘that is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh’. So, we know that God created marriage from the beginning of creation of mankind. He created intimacy between human beings.
