What's In a Name...?
A person's name could very well be their single most important identifying trait. It's the identifier that we use when introducing ourselves around. (Albeit, that I am beginning to have a problem remembering to place a name with a face; and others are prone to butchering my first name without my even hearing the mishap [Ken, Brent, Curt, Brett, Kenneth, etc.]).

NEW MOTU
Spoiler alert: "I am a HUGE He-Man Fan!" I'm either DIRECTLY quoting Kevin Smith, the director of his new pet project, "Masters of the Universe: Revelations;" or I'm giving an HONEST assessment of my OWN love for the franchise. (Albeit that it was in its rerun phase before I could discover it).

A Pear For a Pair
”Grab THAT pear; it looks perfect!” I was standing on a picnic table in the campus courtyard. A pear tree hung overhead, and Liz McIntosh had pointed out her perfect pear for us to share. I diligently possibly bucked campus decorum and did pluck the luscious piece of fruit. Liz nodded her appreciation and took a seat as I split the pear in half. There WAS something slightly romantic about splitting a single pear between us.

The Journey Back
Kenneth and Daniel Myles had wrapped up a rather quiet lunch date over tacos, bullfights, and admiring college beauties from two separate places in their lives. It had been...good...for Kenny to finally actually meet his father after most of a lifetime only judging the absent man by his mother's reports. Kenny had tried to ask his father what had happened between the couple at around the time that their meals finally arrived. It was, from there, decided that that conversation didn't need the audience of other restaurant patrons. Instead, Daniel Myles now cradled a picture album filled with his son's childhood memories and the pair had at least met up for lunch. Since Daniel had left the home while Kenneth was barely two years old, this was the aspiring college freshman's lasting memory now...

Green Beam
The prison was well lit and surrounded by every electronic security measure for Zoe Stollin to feed off of. The Living Lazer's cell was pitch dark and windowless, with the nearest electric source being the power lock. Stollin was 22 years old and a super-villain meant to be feared by others; she didn't fear the dark. The Living Lazer dreaded the insult of being locked away in a cell that reduced her to a common delinquent.

Bull Fights and Dad Dates
This would have been the day that Liz McIntosh, the cute sorority hopeful from my Freshman Seminar class, had been willing to have lunch with me. I had received another phone call that very morning, prompting me to change our plans. Liz was as understanding as she could be when I phoned in my regrets to inquire about changing to dinner instead. However, the sorority did events at night that sort of required the pledge hopefuls to attend; but we could do breakfast in the morning.

DESPERADO'S RUSSLE
"Al"bert Hute ("The Desperado") was the best of the supervillains. He didn't agree in unproven boasts; this was fact. Josiah "Shark" was something of an electronics genius; but without his electro-mechanical tub toys, he was a gurgling weakling; a fish out of water. Dr. Luthor Vanderice, the "master of cold," could have been a threat; he dressed way too garishly to be taken seriously. Dr. Eclipso couldn't rightly threaten all of Teen Justice when he was so obsessed with fighting Solara; and the Lazer was little more than a thug for hire. "The Desperado" was the sole villain with real super powers (albeit, they were speed and power detection). That made "Desperado" important enough that he surrounded himself with a gang of his own. If Simon, the sinister AI, were paying a speck of attention to the villains in the way that T.J. directed, and monitored, Teen Justice, it would know that...

Marigold Fields Forever
She never wanted to feel such anger and sadness simultaneously; she hadn't asked to feel such pain. Rose wasn't angry at Jacob for passing of course; that was the shared human condition and Jacob, while the perfect man, was not an ever-living god (though he was the god of love, affection, and faithfulness that Rose had always needed). She was angry at cancer for taking someone away from her like that. She was angry at the god of Jacob's understanding for allowing that to happen. The world needed more good men like Jacob Miller; it did not require one less such person. Alas, her curses and her tears didn't bring him back...
