Seaside Charm and River Restoration in Southwest England
In the summer of 2023, my partner and I spent three months slow traveling and working remotely in Europe. The general idea was to spend around one month each in three countries. This was modeled after my previous visit to Europe, in which I stayed in Estonia, Germany, and Slovenia. This time, we chose Slovakia, Germany, and the UK.

Picking up a Hitchhiker Was a Highlight of My Cross-Country Road Trip
When you drive past a hitchhiker, you have a few brief moments to make a decision. The obvious choice is always not to stop. Picking them up means risking letting a crazy person in your car — maybe leading to awkward conversations, solicitations, or worse. Sadly, my generation grew up with stern warnings against hitching rides or picking up hitchers. So, it’s easy to assume the worst about anyone who’s still attempting this form of travel.

Beautiful Central Slovakia: Žilina and Terchová
When my partner and I spent a few months travelling in Europe in 2023, we started off in Bratislava, Slovakia's capital on its western border with Austria. Then, we ventured east into Slovakia’s mountainous northern region. We spent a week in Žilina, the country's 4th largest city, near the borders with Czechia and Poland. Then, we headed to the nearby village of Terchová to explore the Malá Fatra mountains.
