Splashing My Fear on Those Around Me
Is there something you are doing that is causing you pain? Or stress? Or grief? Or anger? Or non-optimal health? If the answer is yes, stop doing it. Change your position. Pivot. Shift into feeling good. Change now. Life really is short. There is no space in this lifetime for regret.

Vaporizing the Grumpies
I was on the ferry this morning, heading toward the mainland and feeling kind of grumpy. Well, really grumpy actually. The boat was running super late due to the ferry crew performing practice emergency drills at the dock – some kind of MARSEC training that put the crew into a pretend tizzy in the event of a credible security threat. I know that I should have felt grateful that the ferry cared enough about such a possible eventuality, but I wasn’t.

Stumping Miz Grammar
If anyone would have ever told me that one day I would be teaching grammar to a micro-class of 8th graders in a remote one-room schoolhouse in an isolated community that is only accessible by boat or floatplane, I would laughed. Maybe even scoffed and said, “Yeah, right.”

Riding Shotgun
Yesterday I was crossing Prune Alley, waiting for a break in the tourist traffic. A small, beat-up Datsun pick-up passed me – the very make and model of the truck I used to drive – and I saw a man driving with his dog riding shotgun. Remembering Harley, my Dog-of-Ten-Lifetimes, who used to ride shotgun with me in my beater, I felt a pang of sweet memory laced with grief pass through my very core.

Peep Toes, Hooker Barb, and Bullshitting Buck
I was decluttering my closet the other day and came across an abandoned pair of peep-toe heels. Since the advent of this COVID pandemic, I doubt that my feet will ever again be put through the rigors of wearing heels to work – that is if I ever even see the inside of a university classroom again.

A Change of State: Do you welcome it or fear it?
Life has a way of grabbing my attention and reminding me daily of what is important to me. Health. Family. Friendship. Compassion. Laughter. My dog. Music. Creativity. Nutrition and exercise. Meditation. Generosity of spirit. Appreciation within the moment.
