Willingly Lost
"Olly olly oxen free" is a catchphrase or truce term used in children's games such as hide and seek, capture the flag, and kick the can to indicate that players who are hiding can come out into the open without losing the game or that the position of the sides in a game has changed[1] (as in which side is on the field or which side is at bat or "up" in baseball or kickball); alternatively, that the game is entirely over. The origin of the phrase is unknown. The Dictionary of American Regional English says the phrase may be derived from all ye, all ye outs in free, all the outs in free, or possibly ”calling all the outs in free”; in other words, all who are out may come in without penalty.[2] Others speculate the phrase may be a corruption of a hypothetical and ungrammatical German phrase alle, alle, auch sind frei (all, all, also are free).[1] A number of variations exist. "Ollyoxalls" is one such variant, said to be used in Portsmouth, England.[3] Another variant is "Ollie Ollie in come free. *

The Prompt Write a fictional story from the perspective of a misplaced item. In this challenge, you are tasked with crafting a compelling and imaginative fictional story from the unique perspective of a misplaced item. The type of item and the identity of the owner is up to you. Consider the journey and experiences of the misplaced item. How did it end up in its current location? What events led to its abandonment, and what emotions or thoughts might it harbor? Explore the world from the item's limited perspective, delving into the sights, sounds, and interactions it encounters along its unexpected path.

Menopause. Top Story - January 2024.
A bare-naked leg dangled desperately off the edge of the bed, as she struggled to adjust the temperature. (Men and pause) had ravaged her body, destroying its ability to maintain proper function. Hot then cold, tired then weak, insomnia followed by exhaustion. A cycle, years in the making.

Learning By Example
“Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can.” ― Danny Kaye * When I think about where and who I want to be in 2024, a myriad of names floods my mind, and I think: I want to be like that, I want to be like them.
