shooting star shaped bullet holes
dappled cross the sky at 2 a.m
patchwork memories unfold
telling the darkness who I am

hidden discreetly for years in patchwork pleasantries
exposed while wearing dandelion yellow
developing my hopes and dreams
wringing the teardrops from my pillow

kept neatly tucked away
in compartments listing cause
each one with something unique to say
silently kept, babushka dolls
