A Sacred Sanctuary
A bedroom is sacred. When we are first welcomed into a home, we find ourselves taking off our shoes unconsciously and then staying within the socially accepted zonal areas. Areas usually consisting of the living room, the kitchen, and the occasional bathroom if it's a must. But somehow, never a bedroom. Everyone one way or another knows this unspoken rule of social etiquette where you most definitely don't roam around into a random bedroom unless you are properly and formally invited in. Even if you happen to pass by a bedroom door, and you feel your inner self wanting to take a small and quick look, your outer and more aware self tells you to not even hesitate out a peek. An automated response: Quit it, that space is sacred.

How Rock Bottom Saved Me
Growing up in a family where depression consumed a part of my everyday life, I always thought of myself as one of the lucky ones who got dealt just the right hand. A hand where I avoided inheriting such an awful and silent sickness. I was a happy-go-lucky gal living in an above average world going through the motions and keeping my head high above the water. My childhood was filled with laughter and love, and I often found myself being a sense of comfort for others. I was a light that helped guide those I adored through their hardest days; I was a consoling and uplifting voice who cheered them on from the sidelines during their darkest nights.

Let's Revive the Old-School Deed
Handwritten letters seem to have disappeared in the abyss of our technology obsessed society. Modern day life calls for a quick text message here, or maybe a lengthier email there, to our friends and families. But what if, instead of sending your words through satellite waves, you went old-school? Yes, I mean actually sitting down at a desk or table, grabbing your favorite color of pen, and writing on physical paper. The old, good deed of a thoughtful and handwritten letter.

The Little but Mighty Porch
The concept of home has always ran across as strange to me. It’s as if we are supposed to have this exact physical place engrained in our minds. A place filled with our families and cherished memories. We close our eyes and see a cookie cutter house, with a white picket fence, and a golden retriever running through the yard. Everyone is surrounded together enjoying a nice dinner. Suddenly we blink and a flash of truth rushes over us as we quickly realize our own reality. This is not our concept of home. In fact, it may be quite the opposite.

A Glorious Year
Cheers to the new year, 2021. A toast! As we all know and can attest, life has its unexpected twists and turns, but I am certain that no other year will ever be harder or more challenging than the previous. I am hoping that you, 2021, will have brighter beginnings and much sweeter endings.
