The Blood Alchemist; Chapter 7
I look at the Fortol in the distance. It doesn't look like much, just like I remember it. I glance at Olivia as she stands beside me before glancing toward the horizon. By the time we reach the city, we'll only have a few hours of daylight. "Just how imperative is it that we go through Fortol?"

The Chosen; Chapter 1
My hand tightens on Mother's as we approach the temple. Mother's hand tightens on mine. I look up to find her smiling at me reassuringly before looking ahead again. I continue to let her lead me along through the crowd also moving toward the temple. I recognize many faces from town.

Gilded Apples; Chapter 1
The car finally comes to a stop. I study the line of cars we've parked next to. I still wasn't quite sure what was going on. Quinlynn wanted me to go with him though. Maybe she was already here waiting to explain everything. She had mentioned a change coming.

Riptide; Chapter 1
The wind whips by, tossing the strands of hair it catches into my face. If the storm hadn't broken our already weakened mast, we'd be making excellent time. I sigh, tapping my finger on the railing of the bow. The storm had proved to be our saving grace, even if it had nearly dragged us under in the process. Our main mast was gone, having taken out the foremast as it fell, and our sails were in tatters, but at least we had made it out, most likely unlike our pursuant.

A Curse to Break; Chapter 4
I take one last look at my reflection in the mirror, slowly turning my head to each side. I don't think I did too bad of a job. Hopefully, Mother would agree. She was likely still mad at me, and I didn't want to give her any more reason to be mad. She would likely think any slip-up was another attempt to get out of going to the ball. I knew better than to push my luck like that, but Mother wouldn't care.

Fox Hunt; Chapter 4
We make it another block before our shadow disappears into the crowd. For a second the thought that we should have approached him comes to mind, but I quickly throw it away. No, he would have run. He had been studying us. I doubt it was the last we'd see of him.
