Daughter Of The Shark King
Here I was thinking I was a mere mortal, no one special, just another human trying to make sense of the world around them. For sixteen years I have lived in a small town by the ocean, spending my week days going to school, and my weekends working at the Oceanic Rescue Aquarium. Any spare time I have is spent on or in the ocean, surfing the waves, sailing my catamaran, or exploring tidal pools and secret underwater caves.

The Box Dilemma
My day always begins with breakfast in bed. Sometimes eggs and bacon, other times a ham and cheese omelette. On the weekend I may even have a little smoked salmon or Eggs Benedict. Don't you dare tell me I am spoilt? I am just very much loved and fortunate. Not all of us have been so lucky in life. This is the way it has always been since I was born. I have accepted this as my life, and I am in no hurry for anything to change.

If This Barn Could Talk
The smell of faeces, rotting food, and damp hay permeated the air, but Marlie's nose had become immune to the smell, and it no longer caused her to gag. This was the only home she had, and she didn't care if other's might find the smell offensive. Complaining would only fall on deaf ears.

How Many Flavours?
My taste buds pity those who have led a sheltered culinary life. Can you imagine being raised on a diet of hotdogs, meat pies, cheap pasta, and pizzas? Maybe throw in some McDonalds and KFC? On a busy night, it might be packet made macaroni and cheese, or two-minute noodles? I cringe just considering such a dull palate of food, and all the opportunities missed. How can parents do this to their children when the world of food has so much to offer? So many amazing flavours and textures, tastes and experiences, if only they would open their mouths and be a little brave. To be fair, if you do not have brave parents who are open to new culinary experiences, then chances are, the children will follow in their footsteps.

Hidden Under A White Sheep
"You're not a normal mother!". I cannot tell you how many times I have heard my daughter's say this to me. Sometimes, it is said with gratitude and awe, other times with disappointment and disdain. What I can tell you, is I am not going to change anytime soon.
