Breakfast at the Vatican
There is one place in the world that I have always wanted to go, for a plethora of reasons...The Vatican. (okay, that's a bit of lie there, since there are a whole lot of places I have always wanted to go). First, though I am an atheist, I am enthralled by Catholic art (the tackier the better, by the way). Second, I am such a history nerd. Within this category, I am fascinated by the Borgias and the historiography of the Popes. Third, I dig the fact that the Vatican is a city-state unto itself within the larger city of Rome. And finally, fourth, Art...So Much Art.

Soberversary
Hi, I’m Jen and I’m an alcoholic. Today is my one year anniversary of sobriety, on July 4th of all days. It was barely a blip on the calendar, almost passed without even being noticed. That is how I wanted it. I wanted the day to arrive like any other day because I don’t really talk much about my sobriety. I acknowledge it, I will answer questions if asked, but I don’t bring up because it’s embarrassing.

Ten Things to Teach Your Kid
It's pretty scary knowing that your kid is going to go out into the world. The chest can tighten up just thinking about the idea that your kid will be out there, without you by their side, dealing with other people and the kind of mini-emergencies and major emergencies that happen in life. But that is the ultimate goal of raising to kids, to get them out into the world as functioning adults that treat others well and that can handle shit as it comes. This is just a short list of things to pass on to your kid so that they can have a working base in order to be that functioning adult.

Everyone is looking at the French girl’s plate to try to figure out how they all stay so slim. French music is showing up on TV, and French movies are being re-released.
