Crafting Personalized Education
The American education system has been a focal point of controversy in recent times, extending beyond debates about topics like Critical Race Theory. Amidst these discussions, a broader reevaluation of traditional educational norms has gained traction. Increasingly, people are recognizing that the conventional American education model may be producing compliant employees rather than fostering critical thinkers who challenge the system.

My Go-To's:
I have an addiction to shoes and to bags (and that is not me playing fast and loose with the word “addiction” ...it's something I'm actually working on this in therapy). I have so many bags and shoes that people are shocked by the number (it is very high) that I own. Something else surprising? That even with a massive number of bags and shoes, I can manage to narrow it down to a few favorites.

Why You Should Plan for Your Death
I get it, there is a lot going on. Laundry, work projects, diaper changes, getting the car fixed…or maybe you have none of these things on your plate and your life is full of other things. It doesn’t really matter what your life is full of…there will be a day when the things from your plate get dumped onto someone else’s, in a manner of speaking.

Ten Things to Teach Your Kid:
Creativity comes in a lot of forms. The main thing about it is that it needs to be nurtured. Your kid should feel some confidence in trying new things with you by their side. Even if everything they draw (or write, or choreograph, etc) is pretty terrible, this confidence and willingness to try new things lends itself to so many aspects of their future lives. Everyone of the things listed below can be used in so many ways in life beyond a coloring book or sewing a skirt. Some are great reminders for us grown-ups too.

My Go To's:
I am a planning nerd, an office supply geek, and I fucking love color coding. Period. Here’s a list of my 10 favorite productivity techniques and tools that keep me working and allow me to enjoy my free time. A little time setting up a system means saving time for pretty much the rest of your life…which is pretty fucking cool. And the best part, once you have a system in place it becomes a muscle memory thing after a while and then it saves even more time and frustration…which is also pretty fucking cool.

Five Simple Things to do Before You Die
Most people don’t want to think about it. Some people are obsessed with it. Death. It’s big, nebulous, weird. It’s very real and very final in its way but it is also abstract and our understanding of it is tenuous at best. A lot of people think of it as the end of them having to worry about things like paying rent, going to work, and putting food on the table…the continuous cycle of seeking food, shelter, and safety. Essentially, it is the end of that…unless you don’t care about the worry you are only shifting onto those you leave behind.

My Go-To's:
“Wet” Hair Brush I bought one of these sort of randomly for my kid who has long and very thick hair. She gets knots like nobody’s business. So I saw one of these brushes in a pretty purple that I knew she’d like and it was one of my best purchases ever. I have since bought a leopard one for myself and a larger one for the kid (so she can carry the little one I got her in her bag for hair emergencies).

Ten Things to Teach Your Kid:
Eat Well I’m not here to say you should be vegetarian or vegan (I’m not as of this moment) but I am here to say that you should eat more fruits and veggies. Yes, across the board. And you should teach your kids to eat more fruits and veggies. You should show them from as early as possible how to create balanced meals with fruits, veggies, and grains as the main star of the meal. Teach them to eat when they are hungry and to stop when they are full. They don’t have to be clean platers, food can be stored. Teach them that food is not a replacement for emotional fulfilment - it is not your friend, it is your fuel. Find a way to get your kid to try new things, and do your best to feed them “grown-up” foods instead of additive filled “kids foods” like hot dogs and chicken nuggets everyday. You may be surprised by what they end up liking.

My Go To's: Skincare
Noxzema Yep, old school super-menthol smelling Noxzema. It can be used as a cleanser, a treatment, a mask, and even as a moisturizer. I have dry skin and I don’t have a lot of problems with zits but a dab of Noxzema overnight is perfect to clear it up. It’s also good with stubborn makeup. Once a week, I apply a thin coat and leave it on for about 20 minutes then wipe it off with a makeup remover cloth and my skin feels so detoxed and just clean. I love it.

The Case for: Hand Sewing
Not to detract from the purpose and need for a sewing machine, but hand sewing is a quiet place of concentration that just cannot be found at the machine. Instead of frustration from bobbins and broken needles, there is just the work. Pure and simple and full of purpose.
