Writing has become more important as I live with cancer. It's a therapy, it's an escape, and it's a way to do something lasting that hopefully leaves an impression.

El Demon Del Durango
It was 1954 when Paulo first went to work for the DD Ranch and Dale Delaughter treated the immigrant like a son the whole time he was there. Paulo was a whisperer, one of those people that was good with animals, especially the livestock. Paulo loved the work, loved the people, but most of all he loved the animals. His life was spent outdoors for the majority of the day, sometimes fifteen or more hours a day, working with the horses, herding the cattle, checking the property, making sure the animals were all healthy.

The Trouble With Home
An engine roared as its' driver steered from the off-ramp of the 101 into town. The arrival of the black Charger in Florence happened in the early morning hours, allowing the driver to come into town unnoticed. It wasn't that the driver wanted to hide from anyone, but after driving across the U.S. from the Texas State University, the thought of a long shower and a nap before facing the locals did appeal to her. Cass needed something to eat after the long drive, so she slid through a drive-through and picked up a couple of breakfast sandwiches that everyone knew weren't too healthy.

The Benefit Of The World Today Is The Opportunities That Await Those Who'll Go After Them
Money may not make the world go around, but it certainly helps you get where you have to be. It was in the very early part of 2020 when I was exhausted, fed up, and ready to hang up an almost 25-year long career. President Trump was still on television spouting off at the mouth and telling half-truths to America, and I suspect the world. The only thing I was certain of was that there were opportunities out there for a person willing to chase after them, and they couldn't be any worse than the life I was living at the time. So, I uttered those famous two words, I QUIT!!!
