AI Lawyers - Would You Trust One?
Yes you can download the app today and let AI defend you. The use of AI is growing at a phenomenal rate and I find the future quite frightening. We will be seeing robocops on our streets within 10 years, robot soldiers and robot surgeons in our hospitals.

Solar Power Exports From Australia Liquify
Voluntary liquidation Sun Cable is a proposed project that aims to export solar power from Australia to Southeast Asia. The project which was being developed by a group of Australian and international companies, would involve the construction of a massive solar farm in the Northern Territory of Australia, along with a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line that would connect the farm to Darwin, where the power would be converted to alternating current (AC) and then exported via undersea cables to Singapore and other countries in Southeast Asia.

Errol Flynn's Swimming Pool
Engine failure My boat’s gearbox had failed off Haiti while on passage from Cuba to the British Virgin Islands. There had been little wind overnight so couldn’t sail. We’d been making about 5 knots under engine when the gearbox gave up its ghost at about 05:00 hours. For several reasons Haiti was not a viable option for us to head for and we were becalmed for most of the day about 12 miles south of Île à Vache.

Endless - a Linux-Derived OS and a Laptop on Easy Terms
Endless has just announced that testing of Version 5 of their Endless OS distro has just commenced. The story grabbed me because living on a boat as I do, I got heartily peed off with MS Windows. My bandwidth is often severely restricted and the endless bloatware updates were hammering me. The final nail was not being able to turn off automatic updates.

Talking Turkey With Your Voice
What happens if a computer system copies your voice? Do you have any legal protection? It may not be an issue for me, but, if say you’re Tom Jones or Beyonce then you might object to a song being released with an artificially generated voice that sound exactly like you.

New Low-Power Desalination Technology
Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink! KISS on a boat Living on a boat as I do, obtaining fresh water is a problem. I try to follow the KISS principle and so I’ve avoided the complexities associated with power-hungry marine desalination systems.

Why You Should Worry About Black Holes
The sun and stars have always fascinated me. I did a bit of astrophysics as part of my physics undergrad degree. And since then, living on a boat as I do, I’ve spent over 400 nights sailing at sea (and I don’t mean in a harbour or anchorage), many of them spent staring up at the cosmos and wondering about it.
