Super Fruit Blitz
Summer. I love summer. I love to complain about how hot it is. I love being able to jump into a crystal clear pool after sweating out toxins stored over winter. I love the tan my pale and pasty legs sometimes accomplish. And I LOVE the fruit that comes into season when the weather is hot, hot, hot! And I love making my favorite frozen drink to share with the family on those days that is just perfect for grilling and picnics.

The Dragon Speaker Yuki
Before I continue, I suppose a little information would help you understand. Suiko had a few dragons she could use if we ever went to war— – and it was due to my friend and her alliance with the dragons. Not only was Yuki gifted with dragon speech, but she was also blessed with the gift of premonition.

Faces of Courage
Dear COVID-19 Heroes: I am talking to the uniformed forces who are still serving, still protecting and still putting their lives on the line. Not only from everyday dangers, but now facing new ones. To the heroes still fighting for our nation, putting out fires, saving our lives daily, and protecting our citizens and ensuring we are safe from within and from without our borders. To the warriors who don't get to go home everyday, and miss out on birthdays and holidays to protect us, even through a global pandemic.

The Mother
This month celebrates something I'm very passionate about: Appreciation for women. There are MANY women in this world I admire, strangers, friends, and family all alike. And today I want to talk about my mother. Actually, I want to talk about all mothers.

Living in a Dying World
I remember the first time I went to Yosemite National Park. The trees were so tall I felt as if they touched the sky. The pines were lush with pine needles and they littered beautiful big pine cones on the forest floor. The sequoias were intimidating in size and majesty, and I could feel the energy of our earth humming through the trunks as if it were a silent song they all sang as one.

A Caretaker's Really Rough Day
12:00 AM February 29, 2016 I was already up. I could hear him moaning in pain as he moved to get up. Granted I was up all night on my phone because I couldn't sleep. I get up, help him out of his chair, he hobbles to the bathroom. I fix his chair pillow and blanket and when he comes out he's almost in tears because his leg is so bad. He plops down, moaning in pain, and I administer 2 mg of morphine. He thanks me, I kiss his head, and linger until he's drifted off to a restless sleep again. Back to bed, I go.

Caring For The Grandpa I Never Knew
I would like to share my personal journal from a few years ago, of the feelings and thoughts I had when I was a caretaker for my grandfather. My job was simple and clear: Make him comfortable until he dies. I hope you enjoy the first entry.

Keto-Friendly Options at Jimmy John's
We've all been there. Late going to lunch, or perhaps you spaced out and left your food on the counter before going to work. Possibly you were running late and didn't have time to grab something as you rushed out the door. While running your errands you start to feel famished and need something fast. But you have a couple of problems; you are on a diet - a keto diet. And most keto items are pricey. Because for some reason, eating healthy costs more than an arm and a leg in today's corporate America. Not to mention, where the heck can you find a healthy, fast food joint that isn't going to cost you over five to ten dollars for a simple meal?

Toxic and Abusive Relationships (Part 2)
So you realized you were being abused, and you did what you had to do: You left. Now what? You're lost, hurting, you miss your partner, you're doubting your decisions, and you feel as if you are falling apart at the seams. For some people, leaving the abusive partner is not always that breath of fresh air or the feeling of relief. And many people do not and will not ever understand that. In this article, I am going to give you the "Do's and Don'ts" of healing, and tell you just a little bit of my own story.

Toxic and Abusive Relationships
So what defines a toxic relationship? It is a relationship when one or both people in the relationship display behaviors that are aggressive and controlling and negative. A toxic relationship is oftentimes physically, emotionally, and mentally harmful to one or both people involved. Relationships should be full of compromise, communication, encouragement, support, and understanding. This applies to friendships, family relations, and romantic relationships.
