Excuse Me, I'm Interested in Selling Out
Selling out, man. It's like, the worst, you know? Right now, it's not a problem for me. Somebody whose total sales in his career probably amount to a few hundred units is more concerned with selling than selling out. But the thought arises when I daydream about success: What if I was suddenly in a position to sell out? What if people would write me cheques just to put my name on something? Would I do it?

Belief Belongs in Church
This is a story about a dirty, lying little man named Carl Beech. It's also about a lot of people who were conned by him into not doing their jobs properly. It's about innocent men whose lives were ruined by complete bullshit. And it's about a country that threw out it's most cherished values in order to seem more "sensitive."

The Reconciliation
Dzerzhinsky Square, Moscow November, 1937 I squinted through the falling snow at the entrance of the looming prison opposite me. A massive boulevard separates us, and, anyway, the hulking Chekisti next to me will not let me go any closer. I cinched my overcoat tighter against the Moscow chill. NOVEMBER 11 OSCAR-01 0633 HOURS LOCAL 1233 HOURS ZULU Howe rose early, his head finally feeling somewhat better. 48.24.57 N 101.21.29 W 1510 HOURS LOCAL 2110 HOURS ZULU The sun was weak and low in the sky by the time they began to pass the first smashed and burned buildings on the base grounds. Howe could see the elementary school they were going to send Dotty off to next year in the distance, its roof smashed in as if by a petulant giant, its playground warped and twisted.

48.24.57 N 101.21.29 W 1211 HOURS LOCAL 1811 HOURS ZULU Most people living in and around Minot AFB heard the sirens. Some more attentive and knowledgeable residents, like the off-duty crews, might have seen the B-52s and KC-135s doing emergency starts off the alert pads with black, smoky roars, and firing into the air, headed for Russia. If not, they heard the Emergency Broadcast System cut off their TV program with its high-pitched wail of doom. But there was no time to do a damned thing about it.
