Unbanished
It's the heat that hits me first. Like a memory, like a wall, it makes each breath pull harder and the heart pound. The air shimmers with it, moisture rising off the stony ground and sweat breaking out on my skin. It feels soupier than it did before and I quickly put on my mask and adjust the oxygen levels. The last time I was here I was saying goodbye. I never meant to come back, never thought I'd come back. But, I guess they don't make exile like they used to.

Cataclysm
There is no beginning to this story, as there is no end. It's just the relentless unfolding of events with neither context nor resolution. There's no time to learn either about or from and if you try, you'll be washed away into irrelevancy by the frenetic pace of developments, issues, and incidents. We see, react, move on. See, react, move on.

The Last of the Chianti
The Last of the Chianti Phoebe Jones pulled off the Pacific Highway at the Laguna Beach exit. On her left, the last light of the day slipped beyond the horizon and she raced the thin strip of sunset along the coast to her father’s house. As she pulled into the large drive, her father’s dogs, a Rottweiler and a husky, came running to the car, barking and leaping up on the door. She fought her way out and started laughing as they recognised her and joyfully tried to knock her over.
