I and Dera had been high school sweethearts, even if such phrases were never really used where I’m from. We were inseparable and everyone knew we were meant to be together forever, at least just our friends. We exchanged letters and grew out of phases, becoming the best versions of ourselves. But after graduation, we went their separate ways, completing our journeys at different institutions.
