"Second Chances and Letting Go: A Love Story"
Excerpts from memory

I and Dera had been high school sweethearts, even if such phrases were never really used where I’m from. We were inseparable and everyone knew we were meant to be together forever, at least just our friends. We exchanged letters and grew out of phases, becoming the best versions of ourselves. But after graduation, we went their separate ways, completing our journeys at different institutions.
We still talked, lazy talks like we were trying to keep the fire going but broken glass stays broken glass
Years passed, and he left the country . I thought about Dera often, wondering what could have been if they had stayed together. One day, she decided to look him up on social media and was surprised to see that he was still single
Was his heart still as broken as mine?
We met for lunch, and the sparks were still there, distance had only become a barrier that our young selves couldn’t move past. We talked for hours, catching up on lost time and reminiscing about the good old days. He asked me if I wanted to give our love a second chance, and I said “it was never really over”
For a while, everything was perfect. We were happy and in love, and I adored Dera. My little imperfect perfect love. But as time went on, we started to realize that we had grown apart. We had different priorities and goals in life, and no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't make it work.
It was time to face the reality
We realized that sometimes, no matter how much you want something to work out, it just isn't meant to be. It was a painful lesson, but I knew that I had to let go and move on. I would always cherish the memories of my first love, but I had to accept that sometimes, love just isn't enough.
