A Lost Soul
The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. A flicker of light piercing through the shroud of darkness in the starless night. A beacon, reaching out like a friendly hand, weaving between the trees until it came to rest on the body of Hest. Lost, alone, huddled against a tree wrapped in his thoughts of a life he once knew.

Improve Your Life with a Simple Change
"End your day as a better person than when you started it" - Dr Jordan Peterson There is so much within the topic of self-improvement that I can go on all day and have only scratched the surface. However, there are a few main factors successful people put into place that a lot of people do not even consider doing. As an introduction, I will briefly discuss what I and many psychologists consider to be the main life-changing point anyone can easily implement to improve their life.

The Darkening
“As humanity rose and fell through the aeons of time, there stood one man who lived through it all. No, allow me to rephrase that, there stood an aspect of death that flowed parallel to humanity watching as we fumbled through life like children. Cheering along with our successes and condemning our failures, he became known as The Observer. There are very few historical records revealing his earlier existence. But what we do know is that he became revered as a living god. An apathetic wanderer worshipped by a select few who listened when he eventually spoke and followed his way of life. The rest of them ignored his warnings, they did not heed the words of this ageless vagabond who had no impact on the world. They paid a heavy price for their ignorance when The Observer stopped watching from the outskirts, ceased in his aimless wandering and cast his shadow across the world bringing a devastating justice with his wrath”. - The Rise & Fall of Greatness: Lecture by Danyal, High Monk of The Segar Monastery

Why A Woman Killed Her Kids So Her Husband Could Die With Honour
Reliving this story as I feel it is so powerful and is a perfect entry into the new Vocal challenge. Before we start, I would like to warn you that this is a harrowing and heart-breaking true story of Commander Hajime Fujii and the distressing lengths that his wife went to so that he could further serve his country during World War Two. I wanted to take some time to look over why she did what she did and what his motivations were.

Random Musings of a Dead Man — Part 4
I played a prank on Dave the other day by putting salt in his coffee. Obviously, with me being dead there was no chance he would have known it was me but you should have seen the look of confusion on his face when he drank it and then started looking around his flat. I have not laughed this hard in over 200 years and I swear I nearly laughed my heart back into action. That would not have been pretty for Dave, I can assure you of that.

Really? A Pear Tree!
A pear tree, A PEAR TREE!!! How the hell do I write about a pear tree?. Darius mulls this question over as he rides his unicorn back home from work. He knew he should not have bought a skinny one as the bones are digging in and making every step so uncomfortable. So much for a graceful creature he muses. If I win this competition then I am buying a new one, a full breed Pegasus stallion that is trained to use a saddle.

Random Musings of a Dead Man — Part 3
I have thought long and hard about what to write in this third installment of ramblings and honestly, I have no idea where to go with it so maybe I will just discuss the origins of the octopus or even the true creation of religion. You name it, I have watched it unfold.

Final Memories
How do you describe a beauty so ethereal that it eclipses your every thought in captivating wonder? This is one of many thoughts swimming through the mind of Juliet as she stares in fascination at the Aurora Borealis above her. Lay on her back, deep in the snow she cursed her lack of concentration when pitching up the campsite on one of the snowy peaks in Norway. She had got so wrapped up in the picturesque scenery around her that she had forgotten to push the pegs in the tent properly before the strong nighttime winds lifted it into the darkness.

Random Musings of a Dead Man — Part 2
“Dave…. DAVE!…… DAAAAAVVVEEEEE!!!!” I love shouting his name. Although I do not even know if he is called Dave, like me, he is dead so he cannot even hear me. Why, I hear you ask, well, that is a difficult, “life” shattering theory to explain so maybe one day I will be bothered to elaborate on it and let you know. I will say this though, they used to be able to hear me.
