Meet Zissa, My Personal Demon.
Last month I turned 39 years old and I was hoping things would magically change for the better. Unfortunately, being a step away from 40 has led to MORE self-doubt and insecurities. I feel as awkward as I did at fifteen. Twenty-five-year-old me provides reminders that I have lived fifteen years with a chronic mental illness diagnosis that has always delineated my life. The current version sees how weathered I am and still doesn’t know what the hell I’m doing besides surviving one day at a time. This leaves little time to focus on the future.

No Second Chances
Indigo and Sam had known each other for their entire existence. Their mothers were best friends and Indigo recalled stories of Sam’s mom being upset when she found out she was having a boy. She wanted their children to be best friends too and she was convinced that would never happen. For years, Indigo found it laughable that Mrs. Agnello thought boys and girls could not be best friends. But Indigo finally understood the disappointment when they started high school.

Into The Gray
Revel snapped straight up and nearly fell out of her desk chair as something slammed into the window of their apartment. The pale blue paint was chipping around the window, creating a frame for the smear of blood and feathers in front of her. It was the second one that week. She had read about birds committing suicide or just dropping out of the sky, the latest bizarre happening since everything turned gray. Why were they choosing her windows?
