'The Last Jedi': Holding My Breath
I realize that when Star Wars: The Force Awakens bowed two years ago at around Christmas time, it was essentially a retelling of 1977's Star Wars, but with an updated storyline and a new cast. I know that, but I fell in love with this new series of Star Wars films and almost since the last frame of The Force Awakens, I've been eagerly anticipating the soft open of The Last Jedi, the next installment of this current trilogy, on December 14.

Someone, Get Trump Out of the White House
Enough is absolutely enough. I no longer really care about whether Trump colluded with the Russians to win the White House, or what missteps either Ivanka Trump or Kellyanne Conway have made that further demonstrate what a gong show the Trump administration is. We all know that both Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, Trump's oldest son and son-in-law respectively, see no issue with their behaviors and are unconcerned with details such as national security. We can dance around those issues for days without focusing on the real issue itself.

Way To Go, Harry! Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Officially Engaged
I've always rather liked Princes William and Harry. Maybe it's the influence of their mother, the late Diana, that made the boys so endearing. She insisted on giving the boys as much of a "normal" life as she could in spite of the pressures of being royal, and mercifully, their father Prince Charles saw the wisdom in that. There's always been something about Prince Harry, though, that made me smile in particular, and now that he's engaged to American actress Meghan Markle, I couldn't be happier for him.

David Cassidy Dies: Celebrate What Was
Sometimes, when you see someone in their later years and you are absolutely stunned as to just how poorly they seem to be doing, you sometimes have a hard time erasing that image from your brain. When I mean how poorly they are doing, I mean from a physical standpoint.

Children's Grief Awareness Day 2017: What Do Grieving Children Need?
Grief, as most of us know, is a very tricky thing. Some want to talk about it. Others, for fear of breaking down or somehow seeming "weak," don't. Our youngest members of society have it particularly rough, as they often take their cues from us about how to act and react when it comes to loss. Loss is an unavoidable part of our lives; whether we are discussing death of a loved one or beloved pet, or a loss of an important relationship in our lives, we all cope with loss in different ways.

Facebook Deliberately Addictive? No Kidding
The number of apparent Facebook users is now the size of a few countries put together, and roughly almost a third of the global population. Former Facebook president Sean Parker's recent statement that Facebook creators were "exploiting a vulnerability in human psychology” is, as a result, hardly revelatory.

Oh, My... George Takei, 'Star Trek' Star, Latest Hit With Sexual Assault Allegations
My heart hurt a little when I saw the item on Google Trends this morning. There, sitting at #14 on Google Trends, were three terms I had hoped I wouldn't see: "George Takei, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, groping."

ACLU Defends Blogger Who Suggests White Supremacy Connection with Taylor Swift
Apparently, it's not a great time to be Taylor Swift right now. Don't get me wrong; Swift's life is undoubtedly comfortable from a superficial standpoint. She's a multi-million selling singer, with sold out concerts throughout the globe. She's probably quite able, should she desire to do so, to retire at her current ripe old age of 27 and not do anything else for the rest of her life and still maintain a pretty decent lifestyle. Outside of some very high profile romances (and friendships gone bad — we're looking at you, Katy Perry), she's even been able to keep a good deal of her private life relatively private — a rarity considering the pervasiveness of today's media.
