I was curious, and it turns out, the house we built did burn, quickly.
You were rain’s absence, but I was a succulent and I loved your drought.
I think only stars fathom the frustration of motionless burning.
If I close my eyes, I can pretend the wind is your teasing whisper.
Steam and liquid flame, rinse the day away, drain my disappointments down.
I, the flame, coaxed by you to life, tentative. You, the wind, extinguish.
The earth bloomed under the tender touch of rainfall, gentle, loving hands. // But earth spurned her love, copious, and in return,
flame, siren and my downfall-surrender is sweet for a split second.
Water, fall, tumble down into the earth abyss. Tell me what you find.
Beat, heart of the earth, deep in the ancient center, chant song of ages. // Flow, blood of the world water from the womb winds in
Such an accurate phrase. Our insatiable greed, is breaking the earth.
