Probably not as funny as I think I am

When the ground rattled for the very first time, I thought it was world’s end.

I made mud angels, ’cause not every girl gets to be a pure, ice soul.
Fingers trailed in dirt, I drew a smiley face, and signed it with your name.
They thought the earth was flat, and still, they sailed to see if they’d find the end.
Sate the midnight thirst for you. Your embrace, water for my parched desert.
Rolling thunder roil the waves, toss about the ship, help me awaken.
Burn the ships, vow you won’t leave again to answer the sea’s siren song.
If you kissed me, or held me close to your heart, I think my ice would thaw,
Drank straight from the hose. We were supposed to water the flowers. Oh well.
Wish for a ship to ride the river of the air, take me far away.
Kissed my lips, transferred life to my chest after the sea tried to take me.
Held my hand out the car window, closed my eyes, and begged for a feeling.
