Killing Your Darlings and Scrapping Everything
I felt tired roughly 3 hours ago. So much so that I went to bed. Maybe it was the ill-timed, last minute no-bake cookies I ate. You know, all that sugar isn't good for you! Or maybe it was the hour of gleaning and giggling as I listened to the recent Colin and Samir podcast episode featuring Hank Green. I wasn't planning on being challenged the way I was.

They Don't Need to Kill Us
If you've ever had your planet overrun by aliens, you know that it's not nearly as entertaining as Hollywood makes it out to be. The beings usually aren't friendly, and the Avengers never come to save you. It's you, whatever outdated technology you own, and and whatever level of patriotism you can muster--the more patriotic, the better. I've seen too many people join the fight, and give in, for lack of belief in what it is we are saving.

As illogical as it is, I tend to think of myself as the only one; in a world of billions--the only one. The only one scared of not achieving my goals, of not "making" it in life. The only one dealing with loss and rejection. The only one with a frozen lake.
