The Walls of Troy
If walls could talk, they would have prevented the sacking of troy. As it was, walls could not talk. At least, they were not supposed to. They were only meant to observe and watch as the world fell around them because no one would believe a young woman.

Queen of Ivy: Prologue
Author's Note: This story is a work in progress, but I am willing to share more chapters if there's any interest. Kang Yumi was surprised that she still looked the same, considering she was no longer herself. Eyes? Still brown. Height? Still 171 centimeters. Hair? Well, the hair was different, but she had just dyed it before she had… well, died. But the color was similar to her natural shade.

Hurricane
Almeda Mall is bustling and there are errands to run, but my sister still stops in front of the window of the only quinceañera dress shop. Her eyes glimmer with something I have never seen before, at least, not directed as a dress. Maybe at a knife or a basketball, but not at a dress. She is fourteen, and she stares at the pretty gold lace and the red faux rubies, even at the large skirt. Something about the dress speaks inside of her and makes her feel like all the other girls excited about their quinceañeras. She wants that dress. She needs that dress. Except, we don’t end up with that dress. Instead, there is a hurricane.

Red Demon
Context: Malinche (c. 1500 – c. 1529) was an enslaved Nahua woman who helped the Spanish conquistadores by acting as a translator for them. She was also a consort for Hernán Cortés. In Mexico, she is hailed as the epitome of betrayal, as these actions are considered a betrayal to her people.

Liminal Imminence
The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. Because of the window’s placement, all Magdalena could see was the sky. It felt more alive to her than anyone else in the bunker. Gray, purple, blue, pink, orange; every color it took was beautiful. Then there was the rain. When it poured, it would play lovely music against the window. Those were the days she slept in her uncle’s assigned bed, and he would sleep in hers. Her uncle found the pounding against the window terrifying. He was always afraid the window would crash open one day and the air would kill him before anyone noticed. Meanwhile, Magdalena was just lulled to sleep by the symphony.
