There's No Such Thing as Laziness.
The Concept of Laziness: How it Came to Be, And How it Rules Society The idea of laziness has existed for centuries, but its definition has evolved with society. It's a concept which was created in the sixteenth century by capitalists and English Protestants. It emerged during a time when religious, diligent, and working-class citizens were considered the chosen ones. It was believed that those who worked hard would be saved by God, and those who were lazy would be condemned. During the colonial period of the United States, laziness become a justification for white colonizers to mistreat underperforming slaves - because dutiful slaves were praised, and disobedient slaves were lazy.

An autistic meltdown is not a temper tantrum
April is World Autism Month - a month to increase understanding of autism spectrum disorder, and work together to end the stigma and discrimination that many autistic people face. In Canada, an estimated one of fifty youth have been diagnosed with autism. It's important to remember that autism is a spectrum disorder. This means that individual needs vary among those living with it, and no two autistic people are the same. Where one person might show competency in verbal communication, another may rely on communication devices such as apps or drawings.

Even if you believe that humans are all born for no reason, and that life has no meaning, nobody wants to spend their entire lives alone. Some insist they prefer isolation, that other people are too much effort and time. Some insist it’s safer or more comfortable to be alone. Maybe this is true. Even if someone spends their entire life in solitude, they deserve to feel like their existence means something.

We Need To Talk About Cis Privilege . Top Story - March 2024.
Privilege is defined as the right by a particular race, gender, or social class to access societal advantages inaccessible to others. Privilege comes in many ways: because you are white, or male, or thin, or stereotypically attractive, or able-bodied. Cisgender is an adjective which describes those who identify with their assigned sex at birth. When we're born, we are given a label of female or male based on the way we look. Those who feel a disconnect between assigned gender and true identity are transgender. Those who do not feel a disconnect are cisgender.

ThWhat is ableism, and why is it harmful? The disabled community is the world's largest minority. It's also the only minority that anyone could become part of at any time. Many non-disabled people take their health for granted. When you're used to living without worry, it's often easy to ignore the thought of how common disability actually is. According to the World Health Organization, nearly one and a half billion people worldwide live with some type of disability, and it isn't always visible.

The responsibility of a middle child is to mediate and obey, and at some point, this becomes second nature. The oldest does everything first: learns to read, rides a bike, graduates - so that, by the time the second child completes these same things, no one is excited anymore. For four years after her birth, Anika was the youngest.

Trans People Are In Danger. Content Warning.
In 2023, 600 anti-LGBTQ bills were introduced in America, and eighty six were passed, greatly endangering the lives of transgender and queer people all over the country. This is more than double the amount of legislation introduced in 2021 and 2022 combined. Most of these bills targeted healthcare, education, athletics, identity, and gender-affirming care. Healthcare bans towards transgender Americans increased more than five times. As of January 2024, 227 bills have been carried over from the previous year, and are still under consideration. There are currently forty three anti-trans bills under consideration from 2024. Of the eighty six anti-trans bills passed in 2023, twenty four involved healthcare, and twelve involved education.
