Flying High
With all the rushing and packing it seemed unreal that she was seated ready for take-off on her first flight. Fear had not set in it had not time to crowd among all the rest but a sense of excitement leaving her home country, all that she had ever known. What would it be like on the other side of the ocean? Questions swirled in her thoughts as the plane begin to rumble. It seemed it was trying so hard to get off the ground although tethered by gravity. “Man are we going to make it,” she thought. The plane rumbled on and even harder than just as fear would have crept in the pain lifted and begin a sharp assent into the clouds. She could almost hear the plain laugh at gravity so you thought you had me haha.

The Legend of Crystal Cove
I tell you the story just as it was told to me over 50 years ago. It was a beautiful day at crystal cove, although it was not called crystal cove at the time, they had just put in the new jetties to protect the cove from filling with sand. The most exciting part of the whole project is it allowed you to fish in the deep water without a boat. It was Father’s Day and John could think of no better way to spend the day but fishing with his two favorite girls.

"This Flesh I Am Encased In"
Ahh, the fresh air feels nice I have laid dormant for too long in this quiet dark space. I may not see but now that this cylinder is open sounds and feelings come rushing in. I have missed this place the smells the sounds take me back in time. When the salty breezes blew through my hair the night, I married my lover. Every year we returned to celebrate our love “beach hair don’t care” we would laugh. But, I do not feel my hair and I can not see the shore. The sound Oh I would know those sounds anywhere. Sometimes I would call to alexia to recreate the sounds and my body would just melt. It is crazy, even my body feels strange. I hear the voice of my children and grandchildren, but they can not hear me. This is so weird. Oh, I remember! Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, I have laid in wait of this day when my ashes would be given to the sea. I never thought I would know.

Tapestry of Love
It seems Is so Ironic that the heart cry spoken “Lord please make this stop!” was only the beginning. I find myself tracing the tapestry of our life together while admiring the colors and careful placement of every thread in the needle point on the wall. I set up my canvas knowing it will be a long night. It must have taken her months to complete I thought while laying in a field of blue. I would agree with Kendra Cherry in her medically reviewed article published on the website “Very Well Mind” when she stated, “color is a powerful communication tool”. Clearly, her assertive nature of the past is evident in the bold color choices. Yet this part of her personality was buried in the attic. Is only revealed to me through the boxes of real estate sales made in years past. Then my eyes fell on the hummingbirds buzzing in the center remembering those quiet coffee mornings on the back porch. While I experienced the quick decline of communication skills. Now her personal history only shared through the voice of family. For her, only words of wisdom carefully stitched in the tapestry of her needlework are left.

Every great movie is grounded within the human condition. The most primal element of that condition is to love and be loved! No wonder there are generations of amazing love stories. I believe this is the reason the 2004 movie “The Notebook” was so amazing.

The Day My Monster Moved In
It was a beautiful day, the day my monster moved in. The sun was shining brightly as I walked outside suddenly the smell of Honeysuckles floated through the air, filling my mind with dreams of all the future had in store for me. At that very moment I was making straight A’s in school, and head of the cheerleading squad. This victory was accomplished through lots of practice and hard work. There was no limit to my future in my mind.

Executed Love
A single tear drips down his face as he begins the story. It seemed like it had been two years since we had got a night on the town. Our sweet baby girl almost one now, and just starting to walk. I looked at my wife as we entered the house. She was so beautiful! I could not believe how lucky we were. I could hear Dorothy crying so I headed up the stairs. “wonder what has got my little Dotty upset?” I thought. When I walked into the nursery, it was as though my heart had stopped beating. Everything was going in slow motion. My mind could not comprehend what my eyes were seeing? There he was with his mouth on... At that moment. Before I knew what had happened. I jerked him back and punched him right in the mouth! The next hit caught his nose I felt it crack beneath my fist. I could hear my wife screaming in the background, but I could not stop! He was screaming. she was screaming. I could do nothing but cry and hit. This man, who had violated my baby girl. At some point, I realized all the screaming had stopped. Now I was crouched over the lifeless body of my wife’s brother David. I had to get him out of my house. So, I picked him up on my shoulder carried him down the stairs. I could feel the warm sticky blood draining down my back. Where are my Keys? My head was swimming! My car keys were gone, along with Julie. I found his keys threw him in his car and headed to the river. My mind swirling with rage then I see it, the blunt in the ashtray. I need to calm down! What am I going to do? I picked it up several hits later I see the lights flashing in the mirror. When I pulled over and tried to explain no one would listen. After searching the car, the police found several pounds of meth packed ready for delivery. They also found David’s Dead body. I was facing trial for possession and murder. The combination of a felony and murder put the death sentence on the table. I never saw Julie or Dotty again. When they placed me in my cell on death row, the warden delivered a Moleskine Black Uptown Leather-Bound Notebook, a pen, and a letter.
