Breathe through your mouth, Mallika reminded herself, leaning heavily on the ropes outlining the boxing ring. “Boxing ring” was generous, really. The mat was a grimy, torn relic, and she was pretty sure the ropes had been stolen from the wharf across the highway. She shook her head of the thoughts. The crowd jeered as her opponent assumed a ready stance, beckoning her with a cheeky crook of her finger. Mallika rolled her eyes.
