Silence the Flames
A Fate of Fire Flash Fiction Story

“Those candle flames were like the lives of men. So fragile. So deadly. Left alone, they lit and warmed. Let run rampant, they would destroy the very things they were meant to illuminate.” ― Brandon Sanderson, The Way of Kings

Powerful piece! Great work!
I think it turned out very nicely too. Engaging story, well written. I actually enjoyed the ending although it was not what I was expecting
This was a great adventure even if the ending was a little sad. GREAT story!
One of my pieces was inspired by the firefly lamps in Rings of Power, loved this story. If you are on Facebook feel free to join us in The Vocal Social Society for a few more reads and support from other Vocal creators.
Wow! I would love to read a book like this and i know what you mean about 500 word limits - it makes it so much easier to build a plot instead of focusing on every tiny detail. still, your use of language is unmatched! this is brilliant!
I love that ending line, "In the quiet of the void, a new flame kindled and danced in the endless darkness." It's chilling and reverberates after the story has ended. Congrats on the Top Story!
Amanda Starks: This is beautiful & brilliant! All of this is impressive, but my favorite part is the opening. "There was a caricature of silence in the realm; a void of absolute nothingness that demanded the ears, eyes, and tongue to reach out and grasp the space’s meaning." Bravo! 👏👏👏
Super happy to see this pop up! Congratulations on Top Story! 🤍
Congratulations on your Top Story🎉🎉
congrats on the top story!
Wow that was awesome! Sanderson is a favourite author of mine, and I am blown away by what you were able to do with the concept of lives being tiny flames :) Fantastically done!
great entry! I've entered this into the challenge.
Wow! I could really see the details and everything you mentioned to me - done beautifully., This line took my breath away, 'like fireflies danced, awaiting her outstretched hands like a wish yet to be dreamed.' I've read a few entries now and they are all done brilliantly so to see the diversity and immense possibility is both inspiring and overwhelming! I really loved this though, you have such a delicate hand with the pen 🤍
Excellent entry!!! I think I loved everything about it. Including this line "At the base of each one, hundreds of tiny lights like fireflies danced, awaiting her outstretched hands like a wish yet to be dreamed." Great stuff!!!

I enjoyed this. Well done especially given the word limit. I need to make time to check out your other works. Keep it up!
Great work! Loved this!
This came out beautifully! Glad my eyes could be of service 😉
