The Guilt of the Human Condition. Content Warning.
"Lewis... Just do what you have to. You hear me?" It doesn't matter how many times those words echo in his head or how hard he tries to focus on the crackle of the fire his shaking hands are hovering over. Lewis can still hear it.

I Just Make It Up as I Go Along
I've never made a New Year's resolution in my entire life. Post-high school/college years is probably when one should start thinking about their future and what they want to achieve. College professors and advisors will frequently ask about what students want to achieve post-graduation. And a lot of us probably know the classic job interview question, "Where do you see yourself in five years?"

Solemnly Swear. Top Story - October 2023. Content Warning.
I recently wrote this for NYC Midnight's 500-word Fiction Challenge. This was my first round submission, and I placed in the top 10 in my group to move on to the second round! This was definitely a good exercise for me. For anyone who isn't familiar, the challenge divides participants into different groups where you're assigned a genre, an action, and an object that you must incorporate into a story that is no more than 500 words. My genre was horror, action was breathing in second hand smoke, and object was a glass jar. There's definitely a lot of things I'd like to change about this little story, but I'm leaving it as is because I'm pretty proud of the fact that I placed with it.

Soli. Content Warning.
soli (Italian) /ˈsəʊlɪ/ adjective, adverb (plural of solo) - (of a piece or passage) to be performed by or with soloists "Dig deep, drink water, hold fast. Dig deep, drink water, hold fast..." Sprinkling the last of the juice of the apples she picked that morning, Isbell nearly completed her counterclockwise circle in the soil of her aunt's garden before Agnes scampered right in front of her, scattering the dirt across her boots.

Unus Annus
memento mori (Latin) /mə-ˈmen-tō-ˈmȯr-ē/ noun (plural) - "remember you must die" or a reminder of mortality Taking inspiration from this well-known Latin phrase, YouTubers Mark Fischbach and Ethan Nestor, aka Markiplier and (formerly) CrankGamePlays respectively, created a YouTube channel in 2019 by the name of "Unus Annus." In Latin, this phrase literally means "one year." If you are searching for it now, I'm sorry to say you will not find it. The guys deleted it. Yes, on purpose.
