The Token Woman
In a world with an incredible amount of superhero movies and action movies there are many badass, heroic men. More impressively there are exactly 25% as many token women. The Token Woman trope is an extensive, and consistent one. Who knows where it started? We don’t know but we do know that the trope is bullshit so of course I have opinions about it.

Everything is Derivative of Something
We’ve all heard the phrase “everything is derivative of something” well if that’s true then how does a struggling artist present something new? As writers and directors we strive to find new ways to tell the same stories, we analyze and study patterns, tropes, character archetypes and we try and find ways to subvert expectations, that said, we continue to tell the same stories because they are comfortable and people find meaning and safety in familiarity.

Why Babylon is Brilliant
Okay so the time for Babylon came and went, the movie released and it went overlooked and underappreciated and then the Oscar’s came and it went overlooked and underappreciated again. But I think there are very specific reasons for both. And both the reason society overlooked Babylon and the reason the academy overlooked Babylon are the reasons why Babylon is brilliant and should be treated as such.

Franchises
In the grand scheme of film there are many franchises. And some of them are brilliant, we have Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Some are mediocre and hit or miss like Star Wars. And some, some just shouldn’t exist at all. In this article we will be discussing films that should have stopped after a single movie. Yet they somehow became a franchise that now has too many movies. These franchises will range from some good and some are bad to all the movies are bad, why are we doing this?

Thor
We are rounding out the comic recommendations for the big 3. We’ve done Captain America and Iron Man so here we are with Thor. Thor is possibly the hardest character to do MCU based comic recs for because his storylines are quite possibly the furthest from their comic book counterparts so some of these might be a little bit of a stretch so bear with me, but more so blame the MCU. Fans that are upset with Thor’s portrayal on screen actually aren’t wrong, I like that Thor’s portrayal is very different from his comic book counterpart but I understand why comic fans would not like the changes.

Captain America
So we started with the beginning of the MCU with Iron Man, so I am here with more comic book recommendations based on your favorite MCU movie or character. Next we are going to do Captain America. Now we are going to do Captain America as a whole, not just Steve Rogers so your Sam Wilson recommendations will be in here as well.

Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ opening weekend has reflected just how appreciated this movie is. Dungeons and Dragons is a hilarious and unexpectedly emotional adventure movie that was true to its source material. There have been many attempts at a Dungeons and Dragons inspired movies but they all missed the mark because they were made by people who had clearly never played the RPG. Most of the past attempts are campy, but not in a good way. They also didn’t have the budget of the current attempt. Honor Among Thieves makes D&D fans proud. Nerds and normies alike will enjoy this funny, adventure film.

You Season 4
In the first part of this season there were many theories stirred up about who was stalking Joe and who the “Eat the Rich” killer is. Joe is convinced that it's someone in this rich friend group, me and most fans are convinced that it's someone from his past. But the end of part 1 left us with many questions, hopefully part two wraps up cleanly with all of the answers.

You Season 4
We’ve talked about seasons 1-3 and why this show has such a chokehold on people. But from the very beginning of season 4 it was very clear that we were getting into something very different. There has been a clear shift in season 4 and though that was true of every season before it, of there being slight tonal changes. Season 4 feels incredibly different in both story and tone.

The Last of Us
Narratively The Last of Us is one of the best stories that the media has ever seen. This seems to be general consensus among both tv and game fans. All media is built to some extent off of tropes. Certain plot and story points that are common to specific genres that a writer can build their story around. The Last of Us uses some of these tropes very well, and even better the show improves upon tropes we’ve seen for years.
