Don’t say Anything
“Hush children, don’t say anything,” Sandy whispered. Her husband came home in a drunken rage again, and she knew if he heard them the fists would start flying. She couldn’t explain another black eye when dropping the kids off at school. “Kids, now,” she shouted when Tim approached the trip wire. The kids pulled the wire and Tim fell into a bed of nails, dying instantly. Sandy disposed of the wire, then told the kids to say he fell, it was an accident. And that’s the same story she repeated to the police when she called them.

Roughing It
I was riding through the desert on a camel on a Sunday, which was my way. I was a trader by day, loner by night. I was lost, and with no family to come looking, I was worried. I saw camel prints in the sand, but they were my own. I had gone in circles. I almost gave up when I saw an oasis. Mirage. I got off my camel to take a nap. Another man passed me, I asked for directions, then traveled to the city. I was almost home. When I arrived, the city was destroyed by invaders.

Edible Outdoors
It was cold. I was in the woods during an especially harsh winter. I was out of food and water. I went outside, barley able to bare the weather, and gathered some frozen berries and nuts. I’m glad I found anything. I found a frozen rabbit. I grabbed a handful of snow and put it in my cup. I brought everything back to my tent and let it thaw. I dried out some wet logs and started a fire to cook the rabbit. That’s what I ate with the berries and nuts. I drank the melted snow. Back to sleep.

Camping
My friends and I were out camping at Griswald park. There was Eddie, Bob, and Ricky. I introduced myself simply as Truth, because everything I say becomes the truth. They just thought it was a cool nick name, but it was my super power. They sat around the campfire telling horror story’s. “My turn” I said when they finished. “There was a demon in the woods that jumped out of the bushes and ate everyone here, expect me because I’m cool,” I said. They laughed. You should have seen there faces a minute later. “Good boy,” I said to Lucifer.

Title
I can’t think of a name, subtitle or subject for this story. What should I call it? What should it be about? Should it be fiction or fantasy? A mystery perhaps? Something for the humanity section? Oh I can’t decide. What do I do. This is the worst case of writers block I’ve ever had. Should I make it a story about a bank robber? An archiologist who thinks everything belongs in a museum? Or maybe a detective on the brink of solving a major crime? I just don’t know, I’m out of ideas. This stinks! This really stinks!

Where did all the Bathrooms Go?
I needed a toilet badly. I couldn’t find one. It all started on the cursed 18 hour flight back home to L.A. The lavatory was closed the whole time. The restroom at the gas station I stopped at was out of service. I got back to my house and the toilet was clogged. My neighbors were out of town or at work. It was now approaching twenty four hours and no throne rooms in sight. I drove to the woods and relieved myself next to a bear doing the same thing. I guess they really do go in the woods.

Metal for Calm
So, a little backstory. I used to listen to “oldies” or music from the 50s and 60s when I was younger despite growing up in the 90s. I started getting into metal and rap when I was older, as it was more relatable at that time. Though I still appreciated older music. Now, I appreciate all music, but have made a list of what I think are the most relatable (and awesome) metal songs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Lightning, Thunder and a Bear
The lightning flashed through the sky. I waited for the sound of Thunder to cover my tracks. The sound came and I ran as fast as I could. The sound would stop and I hid. I couldn’t let the bear find me. Of all days to wear cologne, the bear could smell me no matter where I went. More thunder and I ran to my car and locked the doors. The bear smashed open my window and threw me out. I rolled down a hill, the bear caught up and laid on top of me. He just wanted to cuddle.

Running Through the Forest
I was running through the forest, naked and afraid. She tore off my clothes in a hungry rage. My heart was pounding. I passed another abandon cabin. I went inside to hide. The howling continued. There was scratching at the door. How did she know I was here? Could she smell me? I climbed out the window. I ran as fast as I could, but she caught up to me anyway and pounced. My girlfriend went completely ferrel again when she saw the wolf pack. “I love you, baby,” was the last thing I said as she ate me alive.
